You don't have to be exceptionally good at anything just able to realize when you need to put work into certain areas. I’m definitely going to work hard! Engineering is mostly math, in one form or another and you'll be employing calculus and trig in virtually all of your mech E classes. Civil Engineering students have to take Calculus 1, 2, 3, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. The Engineering Accreditation Commission requires it. 50% I use math in well-validated methodology I don't need to reinvent and can treat as Blackbox input/output. 50% I use math to spot when someone is drawing illogical inferences and I need to explain how it doesn't work that way. And 5% the math doesn't add up and I need to debug in depth, but that's usually a team sport, not unsupervised. Im not so good at math.
